Love

Wow. I just finished reading the galley proof of “An Hour To Live, An Hour To Love.” It was stunning. I am SO buying a copy for everyone in my life when it goes on sale.

I am understanding more fully with each passing day that there is only one truly important thing in all of life—and that is love. All of the other stuff—money, status, possessions, awards, image, opinions, schedules—is shit. Utter waste. Time devoted to these pursuits in the name of happiness is time wasted. Nothing gives happiness apart from love. When asked about the greatest command, Jesus said: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart—and love your neighbor as yourself.” This is not an arbitrary rule sent down from on high. It is a command from a God of Love to people he created and loves and wishes to live lives of incredible blessing. Love transcends our situations our locations and our circumstances. Wherever there is love, there is happiness. There is blessing. There is God. I’m becoming more and more intolerant with anything less.

yeah, even before i got to the part about the greatest commandment i was planning to comment with "there's a reason the Bible makes such a big deal about love." more and more i'm convinced that the statement "God is love" isn't just a way to emphasize how loving He is.
